This sassy singer was born in Kimberly but grew
up in Bushkoppies in Johannesburg. Her middle name is "Joy" and it is
an apt description for Bianca's happy and passionate nature.
Bianca is the oldest of three children and her mother is a
music teacher. Bianca helps out her mother?s school teaching piano and vocal
coaching. She is an accomplished musician and attended the National School of
the Arts where she studied both classical and contemporary music with her chosen
instruments being both the piano and violin.
When out and about with her friends Bianca loves going to
the theatre, and recently saw the local production of Cats which she thoroughly
enjoyed. She also loves dancing and rumour has it that she can really shake it
up on the dance floor.
Her career before Idols had nothing to do with her
aspirations as a singer; she was a receptionist at a bank, a furniture company
and a large private security firm.
Bianca is presently immersed in studies in musical theatre at Pretoria
Technikon. She and fellow Top 50 finalist Kim August have been friends since the
age of six. They have worked together in a Christian Group doing salvation work
for the needy and sang together in the National Symphony Orchestra in 1998.
Bianca also sang in a band called Afro Sensual and involves herself in
experimental theatre wherever possible.

Why do you think you're an Idol?
I definitely have the look and personality as well as the voice. I believe I can
inspire people and bring joy to the world.
Who's your ideal Idol?
Alicia Keys because, like me, she plays the piano and sings and I know how
difficult it is.
What did you sing for your audition?
I performed Greatest Love, by Whitney Houston.
What are your other passions?
I love Spanish, tap and jazz dancing. I also enjoy cooking and experimenting
with food.
What do you love to eat?
Chicken curry, breyani and chicken salad.
Who do you spend most your time with?
I just love people. But I do spend a lot of time with my best friend Kim.
What is the first thing you do when you
wake up in the morning?
I switch on the radio.
And the last thing you do before going
to sleep?
I Pray.
Your most valued possession?
I'm not materialistic ...
Who are your mentors?
Nelson Mandela and Oprah Winfrey.
Do you read?
Yes, but more magazines than books. I love fashion magazines.
Favourite movie?
Right now it's Moulin Rouge.
How does it feel to be in the top 11?
It's a lot of fun and I really feel like a star!
Have you changed since Idols began?
Yes! At the beginning I just entered for fun, but now that I'm in the final
round, I really want to win. I have also set new goals for myself this year.
What did you think of the talent in the
Top 50?
It was the right group of people - I miss them all terribly!
What do you expect from the Top 11?
I am confident, but all of those who are through are extremely talented.
Did you vote for yourself?
Yes - I wish I had had enough cash to buy another pay-as-you-go card!
