Holding Hands
|

|
RUMOURS that R&B singer Loyiso Bala and Idols runner-up
Bianca le Grange are a couple could well be true. The pair were spotted at
the Mandoza bash this week holding hands and sporting ear-to-ear grins.
Bala confirmed that he and Le Grange had been spending
"a lot of time" together. "We are just good friends - for
now," he said.
Add to this the fact that Bianca accompanied Loyiso to the
Miss Teen SA Competition (where he got a chance to show of his undeniable
talent), while other Idols finalists Heinz & Brandon was dateless, &
things certainly seem to be hotting up....Check back for more!!

Idols finalists slam former
manager - Nicki Padayachee (Sunday Times)
|
Bianca le Grange is sick and tired - and blames it all on
Idols judge Marcus Brewster, her former manager.
The 21-year-old finalist in the
reality talent show Idols said Brewster exploited and double-booked her,
leaving her burnt-out and her singing compromised.
And three other finalists accuse
Brewster - a publicist who was supposed to manage the Idols finalists for
three years - of taking a 40% cut of their earnings, but doing nothing to
earn it.
All 11 Idols finalists, including
winner Heinz Winckler, have split with Brewster.
Le Grange said she had begun suffering
from asthma because her schedule had not allowed her to recover from flu
she'd picked up in Rio. A doctor had said the asthma was also
stress-related.
Le Grange claimed her performances
were often scheduled close together, leaving her little time to prepare.
That had left her looking unprofessional and deprived her of time in which
to record a single.
Said Le Grange: "I have to do
gigs with a sore throat and tired, and I can't perform at my best."
She said Brewster took 40% of her
earnings, which she considered exorbitant. "I may not know a lot
about this business, but I know when I am being robbed."
David Fourie also accused Brewster of
taking a 40% cut of his earnings - for doing nothing.
He said he had to arrange his own
appearances . "He didn't arrange one technical aspect. I did it all:
dressing rooms, transport, everything."
Melanie Lowe, who made the final
three, said Brewster's company would book her appearances but she would
not know what she would be singing and nothing would be organised.
"It would look very bad . . . He
didn't do a single thing. We all were hurt. He was nice to us during the
Idols competition and we all adored him."
Contestant Lyndle Kearns said:
"Marcus was like the backbone of my existence during the show. But
the guy I know now is not the same guy I knew then."
But a "shocked" Brewster hit
back at the singers, saying some had been "highly unprofessional,
disorganised and discourteous".
He said the finalists had asked him to
arrange as much work for them as he could and Le Grange had only six
commitments until the end of December.
He disputed Fourie's claims, saying he
had not charged the performer for gigs he organised himself, and dismissed
Lowe's allegations as "baseless and unsubstantiated". He
questioned the finalists' motives.
A request from their then agent not to
have them on her books was one of the factors in his decision to
relinquish management of them as well, he said.

Bianca’s a vocal powerhouse
|
BIANCA in concert and The Mystery of the Lost
Crystal at The Boardwalk.
Idols series winner Heinz, when he visits The
Boardwalk later in the complex’s week of second birthday celebrations, had
better be an amazing performer. That’s because competition finalist
Bianca, who performed there on Sunday evening, was a powerhouse!
She’s got a star quality about her, from the top of her
striking bleached cropped hair to her toes. And an eye-catching outfit of
barely-there sparkly top and dazzling white trouser suit she wore to perform
added to the glamorous image.
Add that to a confident, yet engaging, stage personality
that immediately established a warm rapport with the large audience that
crowded around the Boardwalk lake to hear her. Even a couple of breaks in
the sound system did not faze her.

Bianca takes over from Wind
- Blows PE away (By Cindy)
|
So I decided to take a few days
off & imagine my surprise, while on my well-deserved break from work,
when I saw in our local free newspaper that Bianca will be the star
attraction at a free show to be held at the Boardwalk Casino &
entertainment complex here in Friendly/Windy Port Elizabeth!
Bianca's performance formed part of
the 2nd Birthday of the complex & was to follow a laser & light
show, to be held on the artificial lake in the middle of the complex. Oh,
and the Idol - Heinz Winkler (who?!) was to make an
"appearance".
So on Sunday (29th September) we piled into
the car & set off for the Boardwalk - and so, it seems, did the rest
of PE!! We had to park down the road from the complex, as all available
parking in the HUGE parking lot was taken. It seemed as if everyone with a
car pitched up to see PE's faveroute Idol perform.
The place was packed, with people filling
each available spot around the lake. My friends & me walked around
trying to find a spot from where we could watch the show. The show was
opened by Alexis (someone told me she's from PE - she has a fairly decent
voice on her!). After that was the laser show (of which I only saw smoke!)
followed by Bianca, performing from a floating stage in the middle of the
lake. At this point my buds & I had given up & were having
ice-cream at Milky Lane - At least we could hear her though! Bianca lives
sounds just as wonderful as Bianca on TV & although I did not get to
see Crazy Bee, a friend of mine, who had a good vantage point told me that
she was dressed all in white - the same friend gave me a autographed
picture of Bee - I nearly jumped 3 feet high!!! (The picture
advertises the fact that Bianca is now exclusively dressed by Foschini...I
am pretty sure none of the other Idol's finalists can boast something
similar).
So, even though I did not get to see Bianca
in person & I never got a photo opportunity, the evening was not a
complete waste...

See
it on the water screen
|
Sexy Bianca le Grange,
here doing what she likes best will be appearing live at the
Boardwalk’s lake on Sunday night. |
By Bob
Eveleigh, Entertainment Editor
WITH little happening on the
live theatre scene in Port Elizabeth this weekend, residents should heed a
storm warning with such conditions likely to hit the lake at the Boardwalk
Casino and Entertainment Complex on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
But they need not fear for this will all be
part of the centre’s spectacular second birthday celebrations. In a
first for the city, the storm forms part of an amazing outdoor laser and
video production that will be shown on a special water screen created
above the lake.
The R1,5m family show under the title, The
Mystery of the Lost Crystal, on the evidence of a recent brief media
preview is simply going to blow visitors to the Boardwalk away.
The production, made overseas, includes
dramatic underwater scenes, fires on the water, horses galloping across
the lake and encounters with enchanting undersea creatures.
It is believed to be the first time in
South Africa that the elements of a water screen, outdoor lakes, a
specially produced video featuring actors rather than animated characters
and lasers have been combined in a single show.
“When we opened The Boardwalk Casino and
Entertainment World two years ago, we promised to dazzle and delight the
people of Port Elizabeth,” said Boardwalk marketing manager Shaun van
Eck at the media launch .
“For our first birthday we featured a
special fireworks show specially designed for The Boardwalk. This year
we’re being a lot more ambitious by bringing a laser and video
production that has never been seen before in the country to our
complex,” he says.
The free shows featuring the video and the
lasers will be screened at 7pm and again at 9pm each evening on Saturday
and Sunday, weather permitting, which is an important feature since wind,
particularly, makes such performances virtually impossible.
Contingency plans are, however, in place to
ensure that the people of Port Elizabeth have a chance to experience the
show if there are problems with the weather.
“We have booked spectacular laser
productions on the water screen on Friday as well as on the Monday,
Tuesday and Wednesday next week in order to ensure that the equipment is
available in Port Elizabeth for nearly a week,” says Mr Van Eck.
An additional special attraction between
the two shows on Sunday night will be the first public apperance in Port
Elizabeth of sparkling entertainer Bianca Le Grange, who ended fourth in
the recent M-Net Idols talent search and who many viewers felt
should have been contesting the final.
Personality girl Bianca, who simply oozes
sex appeal and good humour and who recently performed live in Brazil, has
become much in demand for stage appearances in this country as well since
the TV contest ended.
She will be performing live from a
specially built raft on the main Boardwalk lake at approximately 8pm on
Sunday in a programme running for about 45 minutes.

Girl Bianca (By Cindy)
|
It would
seem that Miss Bee is turning into quite the cover-girl.Imagine my
surprise while out shopping last week & seeing a gorgeous looking
Bianca on the cover of an Afrikaans magazine (which I am ashamed to
admit I had never heard about!) - I bought the R19 magazine at great peril
to my budget, but I figured its worth it.
The article in 'Insig'
magazine, is aptly titled "Die Vlieende Bee" & also features
some stunning photographs of Bianca (which I will scan & post by next
week). The article (written in VERY complex, VERY higher-grade Afrikaans)
gave an interesting peak into Bianca's past, telling how she succeeded in
changing her life around, by becoming a Christian & doing missionary
work all over Southern Africa.
Remember that Bianca is
turning 21 on the 22 September...how about sending in some of your own
artwork to wish her a happy 21st & I will then post it on the website!

C-Kruis Interview
|
I found this rather old
interview on the C-Kruis website. Bianca also has her own column there,
though with her hectic schedule there are not too many updates. Click on
the following image to read her posts:

|
Bianca was a full-time member
in C-Kruis for two years during 2000 and 2001. During this time
she was singer, dancer and actress, but most of all missionary.
Flaps decided to catch up with her and reflect on her time in
C-Kruis.
It's been 6 months since you
were in C-Kruis. How did you adapt to the demands of the secular
industry?
I had to stay focused on Christianity and had to stay at the
Lord's feet. There are really a lot of temptations and I don't
have a comfortable environment of Christians around me any more.
Well, not all the time. Different people - different cultures,
beliefs, races, you know…
|
What do you miss in C-Kruis?
People, ministry, traveling, mostly fellowship with people.
Why did you decide to join C-Kruis in
the first place? There were so many other options?
I needed to find myself. Now I know I had to get together my beliefs. To
establish a relationship with God which I didn't have at that time.
Furthermore it seemed like a great opportunity to explore the arts,
especially dance, which I love doing.
Will you recommend it to others?
Of course, what a silly question. It changed my life dramatically.
What meant the most to you during these
two years?
Friendships I made - growth, spiritually and mentally - to see my country
and minister to youth of my country.
And what was the hardest?
"Trokpak." In C-Kruis all the artists also form part of the crew
- and everybody helps loading the truck. Also coming from a background,
not knowing what Christianity really was, and then having to adapt. My
idea of Christianity was totally wrong at that time.
What was the hardest thing in your life?
Living in lies. In C-Kruis I got a new perspective on things.
Anything else?
Judgemental people made me angry. I had to learn to accept them.
You performed close to 300 times
nationwide whilst in C-Kruis. Do you recall any really funny stuff that
happened on stage?
Sitting on stage singing a solo. All of the sudden you (Flaps - the
producer) were surfing across the stage - normally an x-tra would do it.
And once doing Coyote Ugly, my stockings ripped and I had a "groot
gat in my boud!"
What is your motto in life?
Three things. To be the best you can Bee. Your attitude towards life will
determine life's attitude towards you. And keep your feet on the ground
and your eyes towards heaven.
And your favourite scripture?
Isaiah 40:31 "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their
strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk and not be faint." And a word of encouragement:
stay in the Word for it is the treasure of the kingdom life.
What do you dream of Bee?
I want to be a great singer one day - and I want my music to touch people.
What can't you resist eating?
You know that! Chocolates!!
Do you think you'll win idols
I don't know. All the competition and talent is strong. It's up to the
public.
If you don't who will?
I can't say, they're all good. Riaan or Ayanda.
Any last words?
Umm. Thanks for everybody's prayer and support.

Mites
ontmasker (Excerpts from interview in FINESSE magazine)
|

Albei is blond. Albei
is beeldskoon.
In ’n openhartige
my kant toe gekom het, gaan ek definitief tot my voordeel gebruik. Die
aand toe ek uitgestem is, was ek nie hartseer nie, net teleurgestel. Ek is
My
uiteindelike doel is dat mense my CD’s sal koop.
Hulle moet vrede vind in my musiek, en gemaklik
voel daarmee.
sleg.
Gelukkig het God in my lewe ingegryp.
net twintig jaar oud.
My ma was jare
lank ’n musiekonderwyer en orrelis. Ek was maar net ’n paar maande oud
Selfs wanneer ek op my eie Bybelstudie hou, sing ek eers
My musiek moet mense inspireer en
daardeur wil ek myself beter leer verstaan. Dit is nie toevallig dat my
tweede naam Joy is nie.
